Today has been a surprisingly emotional day. When they say “13 syringes of stem cells” they leave out the part about how this moment marks the possibility of a cure and a long, long future. It’s that moment of stillness I’ve been looking for… the one where I can imagine us on our front porch in rocking chairs - grown up kids with grand babies on their hips - and Shayne retelling the year of 100 Paper Movies. (thanks, meg) On that day, we’ll have more laugh lines than creases on our forehead and instead of a monotonous medical monologue, our story will be a fairy tale where we get to ride off into the sunset.

Back to current day: Shayne just got his stem cells. Everything went pretty well, although I know he’s very glad to be sleeping now. We watched our wedding video towards the end to take his mind off of feeling rotten. Made me remember how lucky we are to have so many wonderful people in our lives… and, of course, how much I love Shayne.
Here’s the video again.
