Me, again.
Some of y’all are probably wondering why I’ve taken over the blog lately. When Shayne hasn’t had teeth and tubes pulled out of him or the latter put back in, he’s been sleeping. When he’s awake, I’d rather hang out with him than be on computers. So I’ve been writing while he’s sleeping.
Today he got a TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram) to make sure that the infection didn’t cause permanent damage to the valves in his heart. It was supposed to be a 2-hour procedure, but we had to go to the transplant clinic which mean lots of blood draws and talking to nurses… and an extra 3 hours.
Good news is he passed the test with flying colors. All is well with his heart, but his kidneys are not so happy so he has to go off his IV antibiotics and has more (unplanned) tests tomorrow. He also has has to go get a (also unplanned) PET scan on Friday. Yay! We love the hospital so much, we wouldn’t want to go a single day without seeing its shiny marble and glass facade.
Today I really got to put my IV administering skills to work - setting Shayne up while a nurse was drawing his blood and then flushing his IV while he was sitting in the front seat of our civic. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to add this to my skill set on my resume someday…
Speaking of blood, you should probably watch this video:
